A friend is following God’s call to go out to minister to the prostitutes in Michigan. She and other women walk the streets looking for these women who are enslaved and controlled in horrible manners. They look free, but their pimp is always close by. These are women – they have thoughts, feelings, talents and God created them in His image.
My friend shared about how this night they met two women who are pregnant. One is 41 weeks pregnant, is likely on crack, homeless and plans on keeping the baby.
So many feelings come up hearing about this. I know this happens all over our country and in countries around the world. I wonder what lead this dear woman into prostitution – what is her story? How is God changing this expectant mom in ways only He knows? I don’t know these answers, but I do have a prayer.
To the Pregnant Prostitute:
You are precious and dear. You are capable and lovable. You are a mom. This little baby is a miracle, just like you were when you were born. God chose you to carry this baby to full term and He is helping you right now. He’s keeping you and your baby safe in ways you cannot imagine. He is bringing people into your path who see you for who you truly are: dear, loved, valuable. Your baby is incredible and it’s clear you feel an incredible amount of love for this tiny being. You are thinking of the future and I hear that you want to raise the child. It’s a role that will bless you and try you. Long nights with little sleep, endless diaper changes and feedings. This baby will consume you, but God will provide. He may also provide helpers to bare a load of the burden. Maybe it’s a family with siblings waiting to welcome their new brother or sister. Is it a couple who has prayed for a child for ten years and God is trying to use you to bless this family? You are a mommy and God will place the answer of how to best care for your baby on your heart. No mother can do this alone, so let the helpers who God has carefully picked circle you with love and truth. You are worth it and so incredibly loved. I pray that your delivery is joyous and smooth as you prepare for this jpurney. God bless you.
