Greilickville Harbor Park is right outside of Traverse City and has pristine views of the bay, boats sailing through the waves and ducks floating in the water. Your children can run and play on the play structure, spinning around dizzy until sprint through the sand to splash in the water. Parking is close by with sidewalks that lead straight to the beach and the bathrooms are a clean dream with baby changing stations. Two pavilions offer shade as the baby sleeps soundly in the stroller, listening to the waves gently crash on the shore. This sounds like a dream, right? Well, it really does exist and it’s a fun place to meet other families to catch up while the kids run and play.
Greilickville Harbor Park is on M22, just 2.6 miles from Downtown Traverse City. The location is ideal just past Traverse Tall Ships and the Great Lake Children’s Museum and right before Subway and the Grand Traverse Yacht Club.

There are many things my family loves about this beach, but there are also a few drawbacks. Parking can get filled up quickly when it’s a really nice day, especially in the summer. There are a few benches near the play structure, but a few more would be helpful. There is a cement bench that runs along the sidewalk, but it can be hard to see your kids playing on the ship since it’s angled toward the bay. There are also a lot of rocks in the water, so I recommend wearing water shoes.
Want to rent one of the pavilions?
As you can imagine, the pavilions get booked up quickly – especially during the summer. Call Elmwood Township at 231-946-0921 to check for availability and then download this form to start the reservation process. You can rent the large pavilion for a half day for $100 or full day for $200. There is a $50 deposit required when you reserve, but this is refundable as long as you clean up and follow the rules.
