Living in Northern Michigan is a complete dream in the summer with the beaches, parks, sunsets and natural beauty that surrounds us. There is a lot to see and do with your littles in the summer and life just seems easier with sunshine readily available. Winter can be more challenging if you have kids under the age of four who are still home. We often go swimming at the YMCA, frequent the germ tree at the Grand Traverse Mall, go to Mini Mo’s and the Great Lakes Children’s Museum. Another great option was Bright Blooms KinderPlay, which was located at Logan’s Landing. The building may be closed, but the play continues.
Bright Blooms KinderPlay
If you have taken your kids to a music program at the library or looked into music lessons for your babies and toddler, then you have probably heard of Bright Blooms KinderPlay. It was located in Logan’s Landing and opened a few years ago and was also the home to KinderMusic. We celebrated my oldest daughter’s third birthday party there and had a blast with 17 kids playing in all the wonderful themed rooms. I had taken my kids to play a couple of times over the past few months, but I think the location further away from Downtown Traverse City deterred some hopefuls from venturing in. Melinda has poured so much into this business and, although the location is now closed while they determine a new space, she is continuing to find creative ways to offer music lessons and a fun experience for kids.
You can find her and Ms. Justine at Twin Lakes Park in Traverse City every Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. offering a summer camp for kids. Each week offers a new theme and “every class includes musical activities, a themed craft and themed snack, outside play time/hiking, stories and more!” I love this idea because it’s not a full week commitment and you can choose which weeks you want to attend. Find out more information on the Bright Blooms Kinderplay Facebook page and register here to secure a spot for your kids ages three to twelve.
Here are pictures from the dinosaur-themed summer camp.
