One of my favorite desserts around the holidays – okay, anytime of the year – is chocolate brownies. Who doesn’t love a great brownie? There are so many fun ways to turn regular brownies into holiday brownies. My favorite mix is Betty Crocker’s Chocolate Gluten Free Brownie Mix. Pick up two boxes if you prefer extra thick brownies – hey, one piece is still one brownie, regardless of how thick it is, right?
I love this mix because it is moist and they taste unbelievable. I usually only buy this mix instead of a regular mix when I make brownies because my hubby and daughter devour them (which is why I also hide them in the freezer).
Here are some fun ideas of how to add some holiday fun to your brownies.
Frosted Brownies with Sprinkles
Brownies are great, but brownies with frosting and sprinkles are even better! This is a super easy way to add festivity and include the kids in decorating. You can either decorate an entire pan with frosting and sprinkles or cut each one individually and drizzle frosting over each piece. My daughter loved getting to decorate each brownie individually.
Candy Cane Brownies
Last year I discovered candy cane pieces for baking. Yes, these exist and they are amazing and really practical. I used an entire bag last year (for other people, ahem, I did not eat them out of the bag, ahem) while throwing away left over candy canes six months later. Tip: decorate while the brownies are still warm.
You can use any color, but red and green M&Ms make them merry and festive. Tip: decorate while the brownies are still warm or add after you frost the brownies.
Holiday Kiss Brownies
Since you will be buying holiday kisses anyways, go in with a purpose (and then buy an extra bag). I loved unwrapping kisses when I was a kid, so I’m hoping my daughter loves to as well. You could keep them wrapped, but why make guests work for the sugary goodness? My favorites are Holiday Hershey’s Kisses Dark Chocolate with Mint Truffle and Hershey’s Kisses Holiday Milk Chocolate Filled with Cherry Cordial Creme.
